If you are a fan of the Andy Griffith show - the squad car tour is a must. Heck, even if you aren't a fan, it's a must! What a fantastic experience with Gary, our driver. We loved riding in the old squad car and Gary treated us like we were already close friends. He gave a great tour and you could tell he was enjoying himself as much as we were enjoying the experience. He had some playful banter with his friend Donnie before the tour started - and it just reminded me of the playful banter Andy and Barney Fife would have on the show. It made me think these two guys could've been on the Andy Griffith show with their friendly teasing of one another. Mt. Airy is a great town and is definitely Mayberry. You can tell the people who live there are just like what you would see on the show - good, kind folks who know how to do hospitality. The Squad Car tour was a lot of fun. Do it before you explore the town so you'll already know about the things you're seeing and exploring afterward.

This was the coolest tour. Its cash or personal check ONLY- no credit cards! Before we started the young lady who takes your reservation and money, took our pictures in the squad car and beside the squad car with my phone. Then Don, who has lived in the town all his life, gave us a tour in the squad car. He was so animated, had us laughing and just told us all kinds of neat facts about the Andy Griffith show, the town of Mt. Airy and the cast. We loved it and would recommend everyone take the tour, its a MUST if you visit Mt. Airy, NC If you get to Mt. Airy early in the day and want to do a late afternoon ride, I suggest that you at least go sign up before you venture in any of the shops, the reason is, it was just a basic Saturday for us and they were steady busy with rides!! So get your name on the list FIRST and then go visit the rest of the town and museums! You won't be disappointed!!!

I can't believe I've never been to Mayberry, it's only 2 hours away. Alan, our sheriff for our tour was AWESOME. Very informative about all of Mayberry, not just Andy Griffith. I didn't get the lady's name at Wally's, but very friendly⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our family had a wonderful time taking this tour. Our driver/tour guide (Mike) was awesome! He was knowledgeable and we learned a lot of very interesting facts about Mount Airy, Andy Griffith and the granite quarry in town. I highly recommend it for a unique travel experience.

This is an excellent way to see Mayberry. We had Don as a driver. He was very informative.He was very polite. Wally's station has some great memorabilia. I highly recommend taking this tour. The classic nicely restored Ford Galaxies are worth it by themselves.
